TRAILER TRASHIN' RAISES £1,160 FOR STAGE ROOF AND CHURCH HALL

A brilliant sell-out gig in Pilton Church Hall, Barnstaple, on 19th February 2010 raised £1,160, the major part towards a roof for the trailer stage owned by Pilton Festival and the rest towards a new cinema-quality projector for the Church Hall so that an arts film Fender Guitarclub can be started later in 2010. The trailer stage will also be available to hire later this year. Contact the Festival Office for details.

A raffled Fender Acoustic Guitar was won by local musician Jim Cooper who promptly sold it and put the money back in the pot. It was bought for a young lad and we hope it will inspire him to play. A big thank you is due to The Soundpad in Barnstaple for giving us a great discount on the guitar.

Headlining on the night were THE DAMBUSKERS, a brilliant and energetic folk-rock-roots band from Appledore formed in 2003 after learning their trade busking around North Devon.

The Dambuskers

They were preceded by rock band THE SERVICEABLE VILLAINS, a band with a name coming, perhaps, from William Shakespeare's play 'King Lear'. And very serviceable they were too. They had the audience of over 120 up and dancing in no time.

The Serviceable Villains

The 'warm-up' band was the local rock band NO KEEF - a reference, apparently, to the absence of Keith from the line up - who got the evening off to a great start and showed their skills with lots of instrument changes.
